Important News in Obtaining your CHRP

As was previously advised to individuals in pursuit of their the Certified Human Resources Professionals (CHRP) designation, an experience requirement where applicants must have accumulated at least three years of demonstrated experience in HR at a professional level will take effect nationally on January 1, 2013.

As result of this, and in order to harmonise the CHRP granting process across Canada, following the October 2012 and June 2013 sittings, the National Professional Practice Assessment examination (NPPA) will no longer be available as a route to obtaining the CHRP. By offering two more sittings of the NPPA exam, those members who have prepared for and were planning to write the exam to gain the CHRP will still have the opportunity to do so. As per the original timeline you will not need to meet the experience requirement to write the NPPA in either October 2012 or June 2013.

Starting January 1, 2013, you will be able to achieve the CHRP designation by meeting the experience requirement. From this date you will no longer be required to sit and pass the NPPA as part of the CHRP requirements.

More information on how the experience assessment process will be managed in your province and will be available from your Member Association by September 1, 2012.
